Recently, Lao Dong Newspaper published an article "The embankment in Lao Cai is broken and landslides due to floods", reflecting that storm No. 10 caused the Suoi Thia embankment to collapse and break hundreds of meters. This situation threatens the lives and lives of hundreds of households living here.
The flood also caused landslides at the foot of the embankment, affecting the foundation of the Na Loc suspension bridge and the Nang Phai bridge in the nearby area.
After the natural disaster, the local government urgently mobilized forces to reinforce and temporarily build embankments using stone cages in the embankment area that had landslides and cracks.

The People's Committee of Cau Thia Ward also requested Lao Cai Province to soon allocate about 27 billion VND to urgently repair damaged areas at Suoi Thia embankment and Nang Phai bridge.
Regarding the above issue, on November 17, Mr. Hoang Giang - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee directly surveyed, grasped the situation, and inspected a number of infrastructure works in Cau Thia ward.
Here, according to the report of Cau Thia Ward People's Committee, the circulation of storm No. 10 caused damage to many works such as roads, dykes, embankments, bridges, and culverts in the area.
In particular, many sections of the embankment on Suoi Thia were broken by floodwaters, washing away concrete components. The embankment damage changes the flow, directly affecting the production and lives of people on both banks and in the entire basin.

Ms. Hoang Thi Ly - Chairman of Cau Thia Ward People's Committee said: Suoi Thia Embankment was built in 2008. In Cau Thia ward alone, natural disasters damaged 3 embankment sections with a total length of 520 meters.
The damaged areas are directly affecting 531 households with 2,320 people and threatening the safety of Na Loc suspension bridge because the landslide location is only about 50 meters from the bridge abutment.
The Nang Phai bridge project is also severely damaged. The bridge was built in 2018, 30 meters long, 7 meters wide, and is the main traffic route connecting the old Thach Luong commune with the current Cau Thia ward administrative center.

Through the inspection, the Standing Deputy Secretary of Lao Cai Provincial Party Committee emphasized that the urgent repair and repair of Suoi Thia embankment and Nang Phai bridge is extremely necessary and urgent to ensure the safety of people's lives, help people stabilize their lives and maintain production.
Mr. Hoang Giang suggested that Cau Thia ward carefully review the current state of damage, assess in detail the impact on people's lives, agricultural production and local development planning.
From there, propose a timely and sustainable treatment plan, ensuring optimal efficiency of investment capital sources.
