From dilapidated houses to solid shelters
Many families in the southern provinces and cities still have to live in temporary, dilapidated houses, greatly affecting their lives and future. Thanks to the support of the Southern Power Corporation, the solid shelters are gradually realizing the people's dream of settling down.
As in the case of Mr. Tran Van Pho, residing in Dinh Thuy commune, Mo Cay Nam district, for many years he has had to live with his elderly father and mother in a dilapidated, leaky wooden house, where water splashed into the house every time it rained.
According to Mr. Pho, his family life is difficult, he does not have a stable job, and only depends on the help of people around him to maintain his life.
"I never thought I could have such a solid roof as I have today. When I received the support of 60 million VND to build a house, my heart was filled with happiness and gratitude, Mr. Pho added.

In the same difficult situation, Mr. Tran Van Luc - a quiet man but diligent in working a job to raise his two children to study. Mr. Luc said that he has lived in a makeshift house for decades, saving a small amount of money from work for hire to take care of his children's education.
"Building a new house is the biggest dream I have ever dared to think about. Now that I have the support of the Southern Power Corporation, I am truly happy and touched, thank you everyone for bringing my family such a solid roof, Mr. Luc added.

Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Vi, one of the households that have just received a charity house, expressed her deep gratitude and pledged to work hard, renovate a new house to escape poverty, and at the same time take care of her children to get their education to the destination.
With a solid roof, I will work harder to build a stable life, truly settling down and making a living as the saying that people often mention, Ms. Vi added.

Speaking with Lao Dong, Mr. Le Xuan Hai - Member of the Board of Members of Southern Power Corporation - said that instead of organizing a ceremony to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment and development of the Corporation, the unit has decided to spend all the savings from this activity to implement meaningful programs to serve the community.
This savings amounted to nearly 20 billion VND, used to support the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in 21 southern provinces and cities, according to the Government's policy.
Specifically, the Corporation supported the construction of 315 charity houses, each worth 60 million VND, corresponding to 15 houses in each province, with a total support cost of 900 million VND/province.
Mr. Hai emphasized: "We want to contribute to helping people have a solid roof, thereby stabilizing their lives and developing the economy. Each house is a fulcrum, a first step for people to settle down and build a sustainable future.
