From 7am on December 24, authorities will allow all vehicles to travel in two lanes on the entire Khanh Le Pass area, reconnecting National Highway 27C from Nha Trang to Da Lat and vice versa.
Road Management Area III - Vietnam Road Administration previously sent a document to the authorities of Khanh Hoa and Lam Dong provinces to announce the opening of two lanes of National Highway 27C, through Khanh Le Pass, in Son Thai Commune, Khanh Vinh District.
At the landslide site at km43+300 on Khanh Le Pass, there was previously a large amount of rock and soil. After the one-lane traffic period, the construction unit cleared a large amount of the landslide rock and soil and repaired the road surface.
Although authorities have allowed two lanes of traffic on Khanh Le Pass, the weather in this area is still complicated.
In order to prevent further landslides that could endanger traffic participants passing through Khanh Le Pass, Road Management Area III requests to continue to maintain road closures to prevent traffic from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. the next morning on the section passing through Khanh Le Pass.
Road Management Area III also requested the traffic police of Khanh Hoa and Lam Dong provinces to continue to coordinate and support traffic regulation from 5 p.m. to 7 a.m. the next morning until conditions are met for 24/7 traffic.
Previously, on December 15, heavy rain caused serious landslides in many locations on Khanh Le Pass. At that time, dozens of vehicles and hundreds of tourists were stuck on the pass between landslides.
After the authorities of Lam Dong and Khanh Hoa provinces organized the rescue of tourists, they quickly started to break rocks and clear the road to clear traffic on Khanh Le pass.
However, the repair work encountered many difficulties because a large amount of rock and soil spilled onto the road. The authorities even used explosives to destroy the giant rocks.
Determining the seriousness of the incident, Road Management Area III proposed declaring a natural disaster emergency on National Highway 27C through Khanh Le Pass.
