On December 20, the Department of Transport of Khanh Hoa province said that the authorities of Khanh Hoa and Lam Dong provinces are agreeing on the plan and time to ban traffic on National Highway 27C, through Khanh Le Pass. They will then report to the provincial leaders and announce information to the public about the ban on traffic.
Yesterday at Km 43+400 through Khanh Le Pass, authorities of Khanh Hoa and Lam Dong provinces inspected the scene to agree on a plan to ensure traffic safety through the landslide area.
Initially, the authorities planned to open one lane of the road on December 19. However, the geological situation at the Km 43+400 landslide site is still very complicated.
Although one lane of the pass has been opened to traffic, there are still many landslides on both sides. Meanwhile, the weather is still rainy and there are potential risks of natural disasters.
Previously, on December 15, heavy rain caused serious landslides in many locations on Khanh Le Pass. At that time, dozens of vehicles and hundreds of tourists were stuck on the pass between landslides.
After the authorities of Lam Dong and Khanh Hoa provinces organized the rescue of tourists, they quickly started to break rocks and clear the road to clear traffic on Khanh Le pass.
However, the repair work encountered many difficulties because a large amount of rock and soil spilled onto the road. The authorities even used explosives to destroy the giant rocks.
Determining the seriousness of the incident, Road Management Area III proposed declaring a natural disaster emergency on National Highway 27C through Khanh Le Pass.
