On the morning of December 19, Road Management Area III under the Ministry of Transport confirmed that one lane on National Highway 27C, through Khanh Le Pass, connecting Nha Trang City and Da Lat, had been opened to traffic.
At around 2am this morning, the last landslide point at Km43+300 on Khanh Le pass in Son Thai commune, Khanh Vinh district officially opened to traffic with one lane.
These are the efforts of the authorities, even increasing the construction to 3 shifts, 4 teams in the past few days to soon open National Highway 27C.
Immediately after handling the landslides, Road Management Area III installed a warning system and assigned traffic controllers, allowing vehicles to pass one at a time.
Previously, on December 15, heavy rain caused serious landslides in many locations on Khanh Le Pass. At that time, dozens of vehicles and hundreds of tourists were stuck on the pass between landslides.
After the authorities of Lam Dong and Khanh Hoa provinces organized the rescue of tourists, they quickly started to break rocks and clear the road to clear traffic on Khanh Le pass.
However, the repair work encountered many difficulties because a large amount of rock and soil spilled onto the road. The authorities even used explosives to destroy the giant rocks.
Determining the seriousness of the incident, Road Management Area III proposed declaring a natural disaster emergency on National Highway 27C, the section passing through Khanh Le Pass.
