On the morning of December 16, Mr. Chu Van An - Deputy Director in charge of the Department of Transport of Khanh Hoa province - said: Today, the forces are deploying plans to blast, break rocks and clear landslides on Khanh Le pass. Due to the large volume of landslides, the road cannot be cleared today.
"We are also actively coordinating with relevant units to deploy plans to clear more than 1,000 cubic meters of landslides at three points on Khanh Le Pass. The resumption of traffic on National Highway 27C is racing against the weather," said Mr. An.
At the Km59 landslide on Khanh Le Pass, National Highway 27C (Son Thai Commune, Khanh Vinh District), Lam Dong Province authorities successfully cleared the landslide and rescued 13 passenger cars, 1 car, 1 truck with nearly 300 people.
These vehicles returned to Da Lat City on the evening of December 15. Lam Dong Province authorities are continuing to handle the landslides at Km54.
At the Km43 landslide point, the authorities approached 55 guests overnight and assisted them in moving to the Khanh Vinh district military agency at 9:00 p.m. on December 15.
Since the night of December 15, the water level on Cai Nha Trang River has peaked, the flood peak reached 9.64m, 0.14m above alert level 2. The water level of Dinh Ninh Hoa River fluctuates below alert level 1; currently the flood level on Cai Nha Trang River is decreasing rapidly.
On the night of December 15, many places in Nha Trang city were heavily flooded. Of which, Vinh Thanh commune was flooded 1m deep in Phu Binh, Phu Trung 1, Phu Trung 2, Phu Vinh 2 villages; Vinh Phuong commune was flooded 20-30cm deep in Trung village, Tay village and on the central road; Vinh Trung commune was flooded about 30cm deep on 23/10 road and Vo Canh, Vo Cang villages.
Dien Phu, Dien Dien and Dien An communes of Dien Khanh district were flooded from 30-50cm. The water has now receded and people can travel normally.
There are a total of 32 reservoirs in the province with a total capacity of 250 million m3, the total storage capacity of the reservoirs currently reaches 76% of the total design capacity. Today, some reservoirs are still regulating water discharge such as Hoa Son reservoir 30.6 m3/s, Am Chua 5.34 m3/s, Suoi Dau 57.03 m3/s, Ta Ruc 20.16 m3/s, Dac Loc 4.52 m3/s.
