Highland farmers participating in forest protection receive national reserve rice

Cao Bang - Thong Nong Commune People's Committee has just received and distributed 73,920 kg of rice to support farmers participating in forest protection.

On May 5, information from the People's Committee of Thong Nong commune, the unit that just organized the receipt and distribution of 73,920 kg of national reserve rice to support households participating in forest protection and development in the commune.

The above activity was carried out after the Provincial People's Committee issued Official Dispatch No. 1011/UBND-KT on receiving and allocating national reserve rice to support forest protection and development.

Accordingly, the whole commune has 383 households with 1,739 people receiving support. The total forest area contracted, managed and protected by farmers is 1,351.06 ha.

The rice was distributed to 9 hamlets including: Bac Hung Dao, Da Sa, Long Giang, Ngoc Sy, Lung Khinh, Na Thom, Nam Hung Dao, Phja Vieng and Son Ha.

Rice support not only contributes to helping people stabilize their lives but also creates motivation for households to continue to stick with management, protection and sustainable forest development.

This is also a practical policy to raise community awareness of responsibility in protecting forest resources and preserving the local ecological environment.
