On July 15, the leader of the People's Committee of Quy Nhon Dong Ward (Gia Lai Province) said that the locality had reported on the situation of wastewater overflowing to the beach in Ly Hoa village.
According to local residents, at noon on July 14, on the beach of Ly Hoa village, a quantity of wastewater appeared from the drainage culvert overflowing onto the beach, causing loss of aesthetics and affecting environmental sanitation.

Through inspection, the People's Committee of Quy Nhon Dong Ward determined that the wastewater started to flow from the discharge gate of the Project to renovate and expand the road along the embankment of Ly Chanh and Ly Hoa villages, invested by the Department of Economics - Infrastructure and Urban Areas of Quy Nhon City (before the merger).
The project started on January 5, 2024, and has been basically completed but has not been handed over for use to the People's Committee of Quy Nhon Dong Ward or a unit with management and operation functions.
During the construction process, the sewer mouth was filled with sand due to high tides, causing wastewater to stagnate in the sewer for a long time and not be able to drain.
By July 14, to serve the inspection and acceptance of the project, Khoi Construction and Trading Company Limited (the construction unit) had dredged and cleared the spillway mouth. However, the dredging caused the stagnant wastewater to suddenly flow onto the beach surface, causing contaminated mud and sand.
Immediately after discovering the incident, the People's Committee of Quy Nhon Dong Ward requested the construction unit to organize the collection of the mud and sand contaminated with wastewater, ensuring area hygiene and preserving urban aesthetics.
To avoid similar situations from recurring, the People's Committee of Quy Nhon Dong Ward recommended that the Department of Agriculture and Environment and the Department of Construction organize a survey, supporting the locality in developing appropriate solutions to collect and treat domestic wastewater for households in Ly Hoa and Ly Chanh villages (old Nhon Ly commune), now in Quy Nhon Dong Ward.
