According to the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (Traffic Board - investor), many important items of My Thuy intersection are currently temporarily suspended due to land clearance problems.
The two packages for the construction of branches on the left and right banks of My Thuy canals have only reached the progress of 15% and 50% respectively, but have been forced to stop.
The construction package of Ky Ha 4 Bridge and the right turn from Phu My Bridge to Cat Lai started in April 2024, has only reached 15% of the progress and is currently suspended because there is no site at both ends of the bridge.

The Traffic Department said that because My Thuy intersection is a complex traffic point, the construction of the next items requires adequate site clearance to both construct and ensure reasonable traffic flow. However, the site clearance progress is taking place very slowly, directly affecting the implementation plan.
The project's site clearance work was separated and invested by the Thu Duc City People's Committee, implemented since 2016. The total compensation cost is about 1,190 billion VND. However, by the end of January 2025, Thu Duc City had only handed over 9/195 cases.

Initially, the Traffic Department set a target of completing the project by the end of 2025, with Thu Duc City handing over the entire site before June 30, 2024.
However, due to repeated delays in site clearance, the project completion time is expected to be delayed to April 2026.
Faced with this situation, the Traffic Department has proposed that the Thu Duc City People's Committee hand over the construction site of the Ky Ha 4 bridge abutment and the Cat Lai overpass in February 2025, and hand over the entire remaining site before March 31, 2025 to ensure the project's progress.

The My Thuy intersection project has a scale of 3 floors, started in 2016 and has a total initial investment of about 1,998 billion VND. The project is expected to be completed in 2021.
However, after nearly a decade, the project has only reached 30.1% of the total volume.
Some completed main items include: Ky Ha 3 Bridge (left branch); left underpass from Ring Road 2 to Cat Lai Port; overpass on Ring Road 2; My Thuy 3 Bridge.
Since 2021, the project has been stalled due to land clearance problems. By August 2022, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council decided to adjust the total investment to more than VND 3,600 billion, an increase of more than VND 1,623 billion compared to the original, mainly due to increased site clearance costs.
In April 2024, the project was restarted but then stalled due to insufficient land.

My Thuy intersection is located on an important road axis including: Dong Van Cong, Vo Chi Cong, Nguyen Thi Dinh, directly connecting to Cat Lai port - the largest port in the country in terms of cargo volume.
This area often experiences serious congestion, especially during rush hour when the number of container trucks entering and leaving the port increases.
The project's continued delay until April 2026 has caused traffic pressure here to increase, greatly affecting the transportation of goods and travel activities of local people.
