Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just issued a decision approving the adjustment of the implementation time of the An Phu intersection project.
The implementation time of An Phu intersection is adjusted from the period 2021 - 2025 to the period 2021 to the second quarter of 2026.
The An Phu intersection project was started at the end of 2022, with a total capital of more than 3,400 billion VND, a three-story scale, including a tunnel system, overpass and central roundabout. To date, the project has completed about 80% of the volume.
Previously, some important items of the project had been and are being put into operation in turn.
HC1-01 underpass at the Mai Chi Tho - Dong Van Cong intersection has been open to traffic since the end of June 2025. Bridge branch N2 (turning right from the expressway to Mai Chi Tho street) opens to traffic at the end of 2025.
Meanwhile, the HC1-02 underpass connecting the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway with Mai Chi Tho road has been completed by more than 90% of the volume, expected to be completed and opened to traffic on January 31, 2026.
The branch of overpass N3 (from Mai Chi Tho street turning left to Dong Van Cong) is expected to be opened to traffic in the first quarter of 2026.
The commissioning of HC1-02 underpass and N3 bridge branch in the first quarter of 2026 is expected to reduce traffic congestion by about 80% in the An Phu intersection area.
Branches of bridge N4 (from Dong Van Cong street turning right to Mai Chi Tho) and bridges N1.1 and N1.3 (turning left from Mai Chi Tho street to Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway) are expected to be opened to traffic before June 30, 2026, thereby fundamentally solving the prolonged congestion situation in this area for many years.
