The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just issued a document in agreement with the proposal of the Department of Construction on adjusting the implementation time of the An Phu intersection construction project to the second quarter of 2026.
According to Decision No. 869/QD-UBND dated March 28, 2022, the An Phu intersection project will be implemented in the period of 2021 - 2025.
The progress adjustment is to suit the actual construction situation, creating conditions for investors to continue to carry out acceptance, payment, settlement and completion of the remaining items in accordance with regulations.
To date, the construction value of the project has reached more than 70% of the total contract value.
The Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee assigned the Department of Construction to be responsible for the accuracy and legal basis of the report; at the same time, preside over the appraisal and approval in accordance with legal regulations, ensuring the implementation progress according to the adjustment plan.
The Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (investor) is required to be responsible for the accuracy and suitability of the reported data; promptly deploy the next work in accordance with the order, procedures and instructions of the city leaders.
In particular, the N2 bridge branch (right from the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway to Mai Chi Tho Street) must be completed before December 31, 2025.
The HC1-02 underpass (directly connecting the expressway with Mai Chi Tho Street in the direction of the Saigon River tunnel) must be completed before January 15, 2026.

Ho Chi Minh City leaders requested relevant units to strengthen management of construction quality, strictly control investment costs, avoid additional capital and waste due to prolonging project implementation time; at the same time, speed up the construction progress to complete and finalize the project according to plan.
The An Phu intersection is a key traffic project at the eastern gateway of Ho Chi Minh City, started at the end of 2022 with a total investment of more than VND 3,400 billion.
The project is built on a 3-storey scale, including a two-way underpass connecting the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway with Mai Chi Tho Street (towards the tunnel across the Saigon River), then extending through the Mai Chi Tho - Dong Van Cong intersection.
Above, the intersection has two overpasses, one of which is Y-shaped, connecting Mai Chi Tho (towards Hanoi Highway) with Luong Dinh Cua Street through the expressway access road; one turn bridge from the expressway access road to Mai Chi Tho. On the ground, the project is organized with a central roundabout and a symbolic tower.
In particular, at the Mai Chi Tho - Dong Van Cong intersection, in addition to the underpass extending through the intersection, the project also builds two more overpasses to connect the routes.
The existing Giong Ong To Bridge on Dong Van Cong Street will also be expanded by building two parallel branches to increase traffic capacity.

After more than 3 years of construction, the project has just completed some main items such as Ba Dat Bridge, Giong Ong To Bridge and HC1-01 underpass (through Mai Chi Tho - Dong Van Cong intersection).
Recently, the construction barrier at An Phu intersection has caused the eastern gateway area of Ho Chi Minh City to frequently fall into a state of prolonged congestion, greatly affecting people's travel and goods transportation.
