After many years of suspension due to problems in site clearance, the project to upgrade and expand Tran Phu Street (Cai Khe Ward, Can Tho City) has been officially restarted since the beginning of October 2025. Up to now, the items are being urgently deployed to complete in 2025.
Mr. Doan Quoc Huy - Acting Director of the Land Fund Development Branch of Area 1 (Can Tho City) said that after implementing the two-level local government and receiving active support from the People's Committee of Cai Khe Ward, the work of mobilizing and propagating people has been carried out regularly and continuously. Thanks to that, the entire remaining site of the project has been cleared.
According to the reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper, the construction unit is currently expanding the roadbed and surface and coordinating with the electricity, water supply and drainage, and telecommunications sectors to relocate technical infrastructure. This is an important item, deciding the overall progress of the project.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Thai - Technical Officer of Tri Viet Construction Investment Joint Stock Company (project construction unit) said that after completing the relocation of electricity, water, telecommunication cables, etc., the contractor will focus on human resources and machinery to speed up the construction progress. And try to complete the entire project in 2025.
The project to upgrade and expand Tran Phu Street was previously invested by the People's Committee of Ninh Kieu District (now closed), with a total investment of more than 122.4 billion VND, of which the construction package was worth more than 37.3 billion VND. The project started in October 2021 and was expected to be completed in October 2022, but was delayed for about 3 years due to land clearance problems.
The restart of the project not only helps improve traffic infrastructure in the central area but also receives consensus and support from local people.
Mr. Doan Van Viet (Cai Khe ward, Can Tho city) shared that before, this road was very bad, only a short section was narrow, the rest was wide, not synchronous in appearance. Now that it has been expanded and upgraded, it is much more convenient and also more beautiful.
Sharing the same joy, Mr. Nguyen Van Em (Cai Khe ward, Can Tho city) said that in the past, the road was small, degraded, and often flooded. Every time a car or motorbike passes by, water shoots into the house. Now that the project has been restarted, everyone is happy because the roads will be spacious and convenient for travel.
The completion of the Tran Phu road project is expected to contribute to solving local flooding problems, improving traffic connectivity in the central area of Cai Khe ward and Ninh Kieu ward, creating a civilized and modern urban appearance for Can Tho city.
