On January 8, information from Thuong Xuan Forest Protection Department, Thanh Hoa province said that the unit had just coordinated with Van Xuan Commune Police to release 2 pangolins back into the natural forest.

Previously, on January 7, Van Xuan Commune Police received 2 pangolins voluntarily handed over by the family of Mr. Le Van Quyen (born 1988, residing in Hang Cau village, Van Xuan commune).
According to Mr. Quyen, 2 pangolins suddenly strayed into the house. After discovering it, he temporarily detained them and reported it to functional forces for handling according to regulations.
Receiving the incident, Van Xuan Commune Police coordinated with Van Xuan Commune People's Committee and Thuong Xuan Forest Protection Department to check the health status of pangolins in order to come up with appropriate handling plans.
Through inspection, it was determined that the 2 pangolins were still healthy and capable of self-reliance in the natural environment, the forest ranger force coordinated with Van Xuan Commune Police to re-release these individuals to the natural forest belonging to Xuan Lien National Park, instead of taking them to rescue centers.
