HUE - Authorities discovered 936 wild starlings at a bus station in Hue.

On December 1, the Forest Protection Department of Thua Thien Hue province said that after monitoring the illegal trading and transportation of wild birds to other provinces for consumption, the unit's affiliated forces had just discovered a number of starlings of unknown origin locked in cardboard boxes.

Previously, on the afternoon of November 30, Hue City Forest Protection Department and Huong Thuy Town Forest Protection Department coordinated with the police force to conduct an inspection at the southern bus station area (Hue City).

At the time of the inspection, the team discovered a total of 936 live starlings (Pycnonotus jocosus) locked in 7 cardboard boxes and hidden in public restrooms at the bus station. The team reported information about the 7 boxes of birds without owners, but no one admitted to it.

The working group then made a record and documents according to procedures and transported them to the Hue City Forest Protection Department.

Currently, Hue City Forest Protection Department is coordinating with relevant agencies to investigate, verify and handle the case in accordance with the law.
