227kg bomb discovered near stream in Quang Tri

Quang Tri - People working in bamboo near a tourist area discovered a 227kg MK82 bomb left over from the war, functional forces have handled it safely.

On May 28, the Military Command of Truong Son commune (Quang Tri province) said that functional forces had just successfully handled an MK82 bomb discovered by people in the area near the stream.

Previously, at about 11:30 am on May 27th, while working in the area near Suoi Cha Cung tourist area, belonging to the old Dieu Do village, people discovered an object suspected of being a bomb, so they promptly reported it to the Truong Son Commune Military Command.

After receiving information, the Truong Son Commune Military Command sent forces to the scene to cordon off and verify. Through inspection, functional forces determined that the object was an MK82 bomb, 500LB type, weighing 227kg, left over from the war.

The Military Command of Truong Son commune then reported to the Military Command of Quang Tri province, the Command of Defense Region 2 - Quang Ninh and the People's Committee of Truong Son commune to have a plan to handle according to regulations.

On the morning of May 28, the Military Command of Quang Tri province sent the Peace Tree Project force to coordinate with the Military Command of Truong Son commune to approach the scene and successfully handle the bomb.

After being safely handled, the Peace Tree Project force moved the bomb to warehouse T92 to continue handling according to the correct procedure.

The Truong Son Commune Military Command recommends that when people detect objects suspected of being bombs, mines or explosives, they should quickly report to the local authorities or the nearest military force. People should absolutely not arbitrarily dig, move or impact objects suspected of being bombs and mines to avoid danger.
