Phu Tho Police said that on May 16, Mr. Tran Van Phuc (born 1957, residing in Nha Hop area, Chi Dam commune) came to report to Chi Dam Commune Police about the discovery of a strange animal falling into a pit while collecting firewood in the hill area of Nha Hop area.
Immediately after receiving the information, Chi Dam Commune Police coordinated with Doan Hung Forest Protection Department to organize inspection and verification at the scene.
Through inspection, functional forces identified the above animal as a small cu li (Nycticebus pygmaeus), belonging to the list of endangered, precious, and rare species of group IB and included in the appendix of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).

According to the provisions of law, this is a rare forest animal species that is strictly prohibited from hunting, keeping, transporting, trading and encroaching upon in any form.
In the process of handling the case, the working group combined propaganda and guidance for people on regulations related to wildlife protection; and at the same time mobilized people to proactively notify functional agencies when detecting similar cases.
After completing the inspection steps and ensuring safety conditions, functional forces released the small cu li back into the natural environment.
Through the case, Phu Tho Police recommends that people raise awareness of wildlife protection, not participate in hunting, keeping, transporting or illegally trading endangered, precious, and rare animal species; actively coordinate with functional agencies in the work of protecting forest resources and biodiversity in the area.
