On May 18, the Forest Protection Department of Bo Trach District (Quang Binh) said that it had coordinated with the Phuc Trach Commune Police to recover a tree suspected of being pine trees discovered by people in the Ben Trooc underground stream, Phuc Trach Commune - the area under the buffer zone of Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park.
Previously, late on the evening of May 17, a local resident accidentally discovered a piece of wood suspected to be pine wood buried under the mud from the stream bed. This tree has been dead for a long time, partially rotten, and buried by the flow of time.
By the morning of May 18, the above trees had been recovered by the authorities and transported by official vehicles to the headquarters for further handling.
Bo Trach Forest Protection Department informed that the total weight of the recovered wood was hundreds of kilograms.
The incident is currently being investigated and clarified by the authorities.
