According to information from Thanh Phuoc Commune Police (Tay Ninh Province), on August 19, the unit received a report from people about a watercraft drifting ashore on the Vam Co Tay River, passing through Ba Luong Hamlet.
Through inspection, the authorities determined that the vehicle was a wooden boat about 4 meters long, covered with black composit on the outside, with damaged rear steering. On the boat were many personal belongings and personal documents named N.T.T (born in 1961, from Dong Thap). However, the owner of the vehicle or the engine were not discovered.
Immediately afterwards, Thanh Phuoc Commune Police mobilized search forces around the area and notified local people to coordinate in supporting. According to records, before the discovery of the boat, there had been no waterway traffic collisions in this area.
Relatives said that Mr. T. did not have a fixed place to live, often living on a boat and making a living by setting up nets. Since the morning of the same day, the family has not been able to contact him.
At around 9:00 a.m. on August 20, during the search, people discovered a body floating on the Vam Co Tay River, in Ben Ke Hamlet (Tan Tay Commune), about 700 meters from where the vehicle was discovered.
The authorities have brought the body ashore, and are conducting procedures to verify the identity and investigate the cause of the incident.
The incident is currently being investigated.
