People unanimously donate land for road construction
In recent years, the movement to donate land for rural traffic routes has become a bright spot in many localities in Hung Yen province.
In Cam Hoa village (Thai Thuy commune, Hung Yen province), more than 230 households have voluntarily donated nearly 3,000m2 of land to widen the road twice (about 5m), concreting inter-village roads. Some households donated a few dozen meters, some donated hundreds of square meters, many of which required many families to dismantle houses, ancillary works, and relocate perennial crops. However, people are excited to see the once narrow rural road now paved with steps, cars can go all the way to the alley.
Pointing to the newly built house of the family, Mr. Bui Nang Vinh (Cam Hoa village) said: "To donate land to widen the road, I had to demolish the old, solid house, then build a new house and move it inside. When we were informed about the policy of donating land for road construction, my family immediately supported and donated land for the love of the village and the common development of the locality, so if we reduced a few dozen meters of land, we were also very ready. My family has 3 plots of land and we are in agreement with our children and grandchildren to donate about 100m2 to build a road".
According to Mr. Pham Quang Dan - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Thai Thuy Commune (Hung Yen Province), since it was still Thuy Lien Commune, Thai Thuy District, Thai Binh Province (old), the movement of joining hands to build new rural areas, local Party committees and authorities have unanimously developed a policy to expand village roads and hamlet alleys. To achieve such consensus, when people donate land, all information is made public and transparent; the locality organizes meetings with people, listens to the opinions, thoughts and aspirations of the people. Thanks to that, households in the road expansion area have voluntarily demolished fences, site clearance, donated land, and did not demand compensation, contributing to the convenience of the traffic routes being spacious and clean.

Contributing to the construction of new rural areas
Similarly, in Dong Bang commune (Hung Yen province), from the land donation movement, the roads were widened, making people's travel more convenient and trade developed.
Mr. Nguyen Tien Dat (in An Ap commune, Quynh Phu district, old Thai Binh province; now Dong Bang commune, new Hung Yen province) is a household that donated about 110m2 of land to widen the road, saying that in the past, the roads were narrow, making it difficult for people to transport goods and travel. Since the people donated the land, there has been a new, airy, clean and beautiful asphalt road, everyone is excited.
In Binh Dinh commune (Hung Yen province), many projects to renovate and upgrade roads and join hands to build new rural areas have been unanimously donated land by the people. The most prominent is the project to renovate and upgrade the Binh Thanh - Binh Dinh - Hong Tien road with a donated area of 10,100m2; The project to upgrade and renovate the Vu Thang - Binh Dinh road (from the People's Committee of Binh Dinh commune, the old Kien Xuong district to Do Men bridge, Nam Hai commune, the old Tien Hai district), the donated area of 2,000m2.
Mr. Vu Quoc Nam - Chairman of Binh Dinh Commune People's Committee - informed that for a long time, the land donation movement among local people has been very vibrant. As soon as information about project implementation was released, a campaign group was established in the commune and the grassroots, the core being the Party cells and associations coordinating with the commune's campaign group to mobilize the entire population.
The land grant to open the road not only creates a new look for the countryside but also affirms the role of the people in building new rural areas. Along with donating land for road construction, people in localities also contribute working days to participate in cleaning village roads and alleys; dredging canals; renovating and repairing concrete roads and lighting works, contributing to improving the lives and changing the appearance of rural areas in the area.
