The movement to turn "each roof into a national flag" is said to have started with Mr. Le Quang Vu in Tam Duong district, Vinh Phuc province - who painted a five-way yellow star on the red roof of his own house. He built it for his parents. During that process, he recorded a video and posted it on social networks and received over 3 million views and hundreds of thousands of likes.
During the historic days of August as well as before National Day September 2 , the movement to turn "each rooftop into a national flag" quickly spread throughout localities across the country.
In the Northwest provinces, where people consider the national flag to be a sacred symbol expressing national pride and love for the homeland, this movement has also begun to be responded to by many people.
Mr. Vu Cong, a resident of Lai Chau City, Lai Chau Province - said he learned about the idea of painting the National flag on the roof from videos spread on social networks. When the whole country was looking forward to the National Day celebration on September 2, he spent a lot of time carefully learning about the specifications of the National Flag and preparing the necessary materials to make it.
“My family and colleagues are all enthusiastically supportive. When the images of me showing the flag were shared, they received a lot of positive feedback. From then on, I really want to accompany everyone to paint more flags on the rooftops in the border region of Lai Chau..." - Mr. Cong said.
Mr. Lo Van Hai, a resident of Muong Luan commune, Dien Bien Dong district, Dien Bien province also said. “Drawing the National Flag on the roof of a traditional Thai stilt house brought a very different feeling. Besides love for the Fatherland, the flag also contributes to beautifying the beauty of the village."
In recent days, Mr. Nguyen Viet Anh, a resident of Noong Het commune, Dien Bien district, Dien Bien province, also completed his work on the national flag with joy. "Under the harsh afternoon sun and sudden rains, it took me about 4 hours to complete the idea."
After completing the first work, Nguyen Viet Anh also hopes that in the future, he and the people in the commune will continue to draw more works such as a map of Vietnam or a combination of the Fatherland flag and the Party flag to represent the hometown. The scent is more beautiful.
For those who cannot afford to paint the national flag on the roof of their house, there are other ways to express patriotism. Ms. Lo Thi Lan Anh, a resident of Thanh Nua border commune, Dien Bien district, Dien Bien province also chose her family's rolling door to draw a flag to show patriotism.
"The first time I saw the image of the National flag on the rooftops, I was extremely impressed and wanted to contribute to this meaningful movement. Although doing it on rolling doors has its own difficulties, the whole family I was very supportive and together we completed the work" - Ms. Lan Anh said.
