According to Phu Quoc International Airport, from February 14 to February 22 (from December 27 to the 6th day of Lunar New Year 2026), the airport served 767 flights (1,534 take-offs and landings), including 371 domestic flights (742 take-offs and landings), 396 international flights (792 take-offs and landings), total output increased by 46% compared to the same Tet period in 2025. Total passengers reached more than 260,000, including nearly 117,000 domestic passengers, more than 143,000 international passengers, a total increase of 37% compared to the previous year.
This is the peak Tet period with the strongest growth since the airport went into operation in 2012, and also a large-scale load testing period since the Port was transferred to operate to Sun Group.
Throughout the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year holiday 2026, operating output at Phu Quoc International Airport diễn biến theo xu hướng tăng dần and duy trì at a high level for many consecutive days. The period before and immediately after New Year's Eve recorded a strong increase in the number of visitors to the island, especially in the international segment. Total flight and passenger output reached an unprecedented peak with 188 take-offs with more than 33,000 passengers on February 22nd (6th day of Tet).
The proportion of domestic flights increases as people and tourists simultaneously return to Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and major cities to return to work at the end of the holiday. Exploitation pressure is therefore focused on relieving passengers in the departing direction, especially during peak hours in the afternoon and evening.
The noteworthy point is that output did not decrease suddenly after the peak but remained at a high level for many consecutive days. This shows that traffic is densely distributed throughout the holiday cycle in Phu Quoc, posing requirements for sustainable load-bearing capacity instead of just handling a few peak days.
Representatives of the Airport Authority in Phu Quoc said that the coordination between units this year was organized closely from the beginning. Units maintain a fast information exchange mechanism to promptly handle arising situations, ensuring absolute security and safety throughout the peak period.
