On February 13, information from the leaders of Phu Quoc City (Kien Giang) said that the locality has just issued 2 decisions to sanction administrative violations related to using fire without ensuring fire prevention and fighting safety.
Accordingly, Bai Thom Commune Police issued Decision No. 04 to administratively sanction Mr. Pham Dinh Dinh (born in 1976, hometown Thanh Hoa province, current residence Bai Thom commune, Phu Quoc city) and Decision No. 05 to administratively sanction Mr. Vo Thanh Quan (born in 2008, hometown An Giang province, current residence Bai Thom commune, Phu Quoc city).
According to the two decisions, Mr. Dinh and Mr. Quan committed an administrative violation of using a fire source without ensuring a safe distance for fire prevention and fighting according to the provisions of law. Mr. Dinh was fined 400,000 VND, Mr. Quan was fined 200,000 VND.
The city leader said that the two cases that were punished had committed acts of burning fields but did not ensure safety, causing a fire on about 6,000 square meters of people's land. However, it is worth mentioning that if the forces did not put out the fire in time, the fire would spread to the forest area of the National Park. The risk of forest fires from burning fields is very high, the consequences will be very serious. According to the law, if a forest fire is caused, the authorities will determine the damaged area for handling, over 1,000 square meters will be prosecuted.
Phu Quoc City leaders also informed that the current forest fire warning level is level 5, an extremely dangerous level, and the hot weather makes forest fires very likely to occur. In addition to the responsibility of the locality and the functional forces in charge of fire prevention and fighting, the awareness and responsibility of the people are very important.
Activities such as slash-and-burn farming, burning trash, and smoking indiscriminately can cause serious forest fires, especially in the current weather conditions.
