Recently, Phu Quoc Special Zone Police in coordination with the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department of An Giang Provincial Police organized the launch of the model "Education and Guidance for people who complete drug detoxification".
Participants in the model are people who have completed drug detoxification and are legally residing in Phu Quoc special zone, wish to participate and well comply with local regulations.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Truong, Deputy Head of the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department - An Giang Provincial Police, said that the core goal of the model is to mobilize the combined strength of agencies, departments, branches, unions and the entire people to join hands in managing, educating, and helping people complete detoxification. From there, contributing to reducing the rate of relapse, limiting the occurrence of crime and drug evils, and maintaining peace for Phu Quoc Pearl Island.
Senior Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Truong emphasized: "To effectively implement the model, Phu Quoc Special Zone Police needs to closely coordinate with the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department of the Provincial Police, agencies, departments, branches, unions, and neighborhoods in the area in organizing legal education, life skills and relapse prevention skills; psychological counseling, supporting the resolution of difficulties in life".
The family of the person after detoxification needs to be close, loving, and create conditions to help them to complete detoxification. Especially for people who have completed detoxification, they need to have the spirit and will to fight against the temptations of society and not relapse.
Behind there are also local authorities, departments, branches, unions, families and loved ones who are not discriminatory and always open their arms to help," Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Truong affirmed.
This model is not a rigid administrative management measure but a bridge to help people who have made mistakes eliminate feelings of inferiority and find job opportunities to stabilize their lives. The companionship of the An Giang Provincial Police, Phu Quoc Special Zone Police, and local authorities and people is expected to create a solid "shield", both helping people successfully complete rehabilitation and turn to goodness, and protecting a safe and healthy tourism environment for Ngoc Island. From there, it directly contributes to the Project to build Phu Quoc Special Zone into a "Model unit for security, order and urban civilization".
According to An Giang Provincial Police, to date, the Police of units and Phu Quoc Special Zone Police have completed 66/78 criteria of the Project to build Phu Quoc Special Zone into a "Model unit for security, order and urban civilization" reaching 84.62%; and 12 criteria are being focused on directing to be completed in 2026. This result shows the high political determination of the entire force in realizing the goal of building Phu Quoc into a model area for security and order associated with building a civilized city. Many creative models continue to be effectively implemented such as the model "Education, orientation towards goodness for people completing drug detoxification", the model "Special Zone Police accompanying citizens to proficiently use utilities on the VNeID application", contributing to improving the quality of service to the people, building a modern administration, putting people at the center.
Major General Nguyen Van Han, Director of An Giang Provincial Police, acknowledged and praised the spirit of responsibility, proactiveness and high determination of the Police of units and Phu Quoc Special Zone Police in implementing the Project; and affirmed that the results achieved not only reflect the effectiveness of professional solutions but also create an important foundation for building Phu Quoc into a safe, civilized, and modern special development zone, meeting the requirements of rapid and sustainable development in the new period.
The Director of the Provincial Police requested the entire force to proactively grasp the situation early, remotely, and from the grassroots level; resolutely fight and suppress all types of crimes, especially drug crimes, organized crime, and high-tech crimes.
