Accordingly, Phu Yen is planned to become the marine economic center of the Central Coast region; the planning around the national scenic spot O Loan lagoon (Phu Yen) is approved.
Establish Xuan Phuong ward on the basis of the entire natural area and population of Xuan Phuong commune; establish Xuan Thinh ward on the basis of the entire natural area and population of Xuan Thinh commune.
Establish Xuan Canh ward on the basis of the entire natural area and population of Xuan Canh commune; establish Xuan Loc ward on the basis of the entire natural area and population of Xuan Loc commune; establish Xuan Hai ward on the basis of the entire natural area and population of Xuan Hai commune.
Resolution to establish Song Cau City on the basis of the entire natural area (493.83km2), population (150,103 people) and 13 commune-level administrative units (9 wards and 4 communes) of Song Cau town.
Mr. Phan Tran Van Huy - Chairman of Song Cau Town People's Committee - said that after the Provincial People's Council approved the Resolution, the locality will complete the dossier to submit to the Ministry of Home Affairs for approval; then the Government will submit it to the National Assembly Standing Committee for approval.
"The upgrading of Song Cau town to a city brings about great changes in the socio-economy. Localities receive synchronous investment in infrastructure and living conditions, while increasing the urbanization rate of the province," said Mr. Huy.
According to the Phu Yen Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050 approved by the Prime Minister, Song Cau town will become a provincial city, a type II urban area (during the planning period).
The development orientation of Song Cau urban area is the center of the northern sub-region of Phu Yen province in terms of economy, culture, services, tourism and industry, a traffic hub, and plays an important role in security and defense. Developing in the direction of a coastal tourism urban area based on exploiting the typical advantages of the locality.
