After the arrangement of commune-level administrative units, the city officially has 126 communes and wards.
Currently, 125 new wards and communes have headquarters plans. In particular, many wards are expected to be allocated workplaces at old district headquarters and many communes are expected to be allocated workplaces at old district headquarters.
Of which, only 1 ward is expected to use the district People's Committee headquarters after the arrangement.
Chuong My ward was established on the basis of merging the entire natural area and population of the communes: Phung Chau, Tien Phuong, Chuc Son town, Thuy Huong, Dai Yen, Ngoc Hoa (belonging to Chuong My district); Bien Giang ward (belonging to Ha Dong district); part of the natural area and population of Dong Mai ward (belonging to Ha Dong district).
Chuong My ward has a natural area of 38.92km2; the population is 87,913 people.
It is expected to use the current headquarters of the District Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee of Chuong My district as the headquarters of the Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations of Chuong My ward.
The headquarters of the Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations are located in the center of the new administrative unit, with a convenient transportation system for state management and work transactions of local people.
Regarding the basis and reasons for the arrangement of administrative units, boundaries of new wards with communes adjacent to the roads, big streets, rivers ... easily identified in the field and facilitate the management of local governments. For the adjustment of a part of Bien Giang ward, Dong Mai ward (in Ha Dong district) to Chuong My Ward, it will resolve the inadequacies of administrative boundaries (divided with Ha Dong district by Day River and Highway 6).
Regarding the reason for naming the new ward as Chuong My, the Hanoi People's Committee said that Chuong My land was originally in Giao Chi district. From Ly Tran's time onwards, Chau Quoc Oai was home to Quoc Oai Street and Ung Thien Street. After many separations, mergers and consolidations of provinces, Chuong My has been a district of Ha Dong, Ha Son Binh, Ha Tay provinces and officially became one of 30 districts, towns and cities of Hanoi from August 1, 2008.
Accordingly, the choice of the name Chuong My has historical, traditional and cultural value and has been supported by local people; at the same time, it is recommended to name the commune or ward after the district-level administrative unit (before the arrangement).
