On October 25, Mr. Nguyen Van Duan - Deputy Branch Head of Quang Binh Forestry Branch said that recently, the work of protecting wild and migratory birds in the province has been directed and implemented by all levels and sectors.
Since the beginning of the year, the Forestry Branch has conducted 14 direct propaganda sessions, integrated into conferences and meetings; broadcasted 120 times on loudspeakers, with content aimed at protecting wild birds.
Branch organized 34 inspections, discovered and destroyed 2,903 fake decoy birds, 1,908m of nets, 20,400 bird sticky traps; 7 signal transmitters, 31 traps; dismantled 7 bushes, hiding places, and 55 other tools.
“We coordinate with relevant agencies to advise local authorities to step up propaganda and mobilize officials and people not to participate in illegal hunting, catching, buying, selling, transporting, storing, advertising, and consuming of wild and migratory birds; not to buy or sell birds of unknown origin for release; and to proactively denounce violators of the law on the protection of wildlife, wild and migratory birds,” said Mr. Duan.
According to Mr. Duan, the Forest Ranger Branch has presided over and coordinated with relevant agencies, local authorities and relevant units to review areas and stopping points of wild and migratory birds; organize inspections and remove devices to trap wild and migratory birds in the management area; strengthen patrols, control, prevent and strictly handle illegal acts of hunting, capturing, buying, selling, storing and transporting wild and migratory birds.
At the same time, direct local forest rangers to advise the People's Committees at the commune level to organize inspections, prevent and handle acts of using tools and equipment to illegally hunt, shoot, trap, and capture wild and migratory birds and organize the dismantling and collection of the above tools in forests, fields... to end the illegal hunting, capturing, buying, selling, and transporting of wild and migratory birds; create safe shelters for birds.
Mr. Duan emphasized that it is necessary to coordinate with relevant agencies to monitor and promptly detect diseases and epidemics originating from wild and migratory birds that are at risk of spreading and affecting the health of humans, livestock and poultry, and advise competent authorities on measures to prevent the outbreak of epidemics.
Mobile Forest Ranger and Forest Fire Prevention and Fighting Teams coordinate with Forest Ranger Districts to inspect, collect information, promptly detect, prevent and handle violations related to wild and migratory birds according to the provisions of law.
