Due to the impact of recent earthquakes, especially the earthquakes on November 30 and December 1, 2024, on top of Ngoc Mong mountain, about 500 - 600m from Tu Hon residential area, at an altitude of about 250m above National Highway 40B, some large rocks rolled down but were blocked by vines and mountain trees.
Currently, the mountainside near the top has many boulders, a steep slope, and is at risk of continued rockfall when heavy rains continue or there is an earthquake, endangering 11 households living on Highway 40B, a village school, and the road to Tu Hon village.
Some households have proactively evacuated to other villages and do not dare to send their children to study at Tu Hon primary and kindergarten.
Faced with the above situation, on December 20, the Office of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province said that Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province Ho Quang Buu signed a decision to declare an emergency situation regarding landslides and rockfalls at some residential areas in Tra Don commune, Nam Tra My district.
The government focused on propagating to 21 households that had relocated and not returned to their old residences; arranged logistics for people at the evacuation site. Proactively developed response plans when natural disasters occurred and preventive measures to ensure absolute safety for people's lives and property.
