On the afternoon of August 17, the Department of Construction of Quang Ngai province said that regarding the North-South high-speed railway project, the section passing through Quang Ngai province, the unit has advised the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province to propose to the Government and the Ministry of Construction to adjust the location of the central station and some other contents.
According to the report of the Department of Construction of Quang Ngai province, the North-South high-speed railway, the section passing through Quang Ngai province, is more than 86 km long, passing through 16 communes and 3 wards: Starting from Km800+100 in Binh Minh commune (old Binh Son district), to Km886+400, Khanh Cuong commune (old Duc Pho town).
The route mainly runs parallel to the existing railway and National Highway 1 (west) has 4 intersections with the North - South Expressway; there are 44 bridges, 4 large tunnels.

However, in this direction, the central station of the North - South high-speed railway, the section passing through Quang Ngai province, located in Quang Phu Industrial Park, Nghia Lo ward, is operating effectively in production and business.
This overlap is concerned that it will affect production and business activities here. According to the reporter's research, Quang Phu Industrial Park currently has 33 operating enterprises.
Therefore, Quang Ngai province proposed that the Ministry of Construction consider relocating the station to the border area between Nghia Lo ward and Nghia Giang commune (near the Truong Chinh - Le Duan intersection). This option is very favorable for connecting road traffic and opening up opportunities for urban development according to the TOD model (developing urban areas oriented towards public transport) around the station area.
In addition, Quang Ngai also recommended that the Central Government soon have a solution for sensitive areas affected by the project such as martyrs cemeteries, relic sites, or resettlement areas of the newly built North-South Expressway.
Specifically, many households in Quang Ngai have had to relocate 2-3 times in just the past 5 years. Therefore, the resettlement arrangement requires a special mechanism, ensuring a stable long-term life for the people.
The North-South high-speed railway line, the section passing through Quang Ngai province, has a total estimated site clearance cost of nearly VND11,380 billion, of which the resettlement cost alone is about VND1,295 billion, with more than 3,200 plots of land serving people affected.
According to preliminary statistics, there are 1,590 households that need to be resettled, equivalent to 2,510 plots of land. Localities proposed to build 22 new resettlement areas with an area of about 172.8 hectares, while taking advantage of more than 2,000 remaining land plots in 33 other resettlement areas and residential areas, including many plots of the Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon expressway project.
