On July 8, the Steering Committee for searching, repatriating and identifying martyrs' remains of Quang Ngai province said that in the first 6 months of the year, the Steering Committee focused on thoroughly grasping and synchronously implementing the guidelines and directions of the Central Government, the Ministry of National Defense, Military Region 5 and the province on the work of searching, repatriating, and identifying martyrs' remains.
Localities promote propaganda and mobilize people to provide information; receive and verify 500 sources of information, including 11 valuable sources to serve the survey, search and repatriation of martyrs' remains.

Based on verified sources of information, functional forces organized surveys and searches in many key areas. The Truong Chinh road area (Kon Tum and Dak Cam wards) has been continuously excavated and searched since the beginning of June, thereby collecting 3 sets of martyrs' remains.
Regarding the task of searching for and repatriating the remains of volunteer soldiers and Vietnamese experts who sacrificed in Laos and Cambodia, Team K53 (Provincial Military Command) surveyed and verified 600 sources of information; organized searches in many areas of Southern Laos and Ratanakiri province (Cambodia), and repatriated 16 remains of martyrs in the 2025-2026 dry season.
Implementing the Campaign "500 days and nights to promote the search, repatriation and identification of martyrs' remains", the province focuses on deploying the collection of martyrs' remains samples for DNA testing.
To date, the whole province has taken samples of 2,615 martyrs' graves, of which 500 samples were taken during the campaign. The sampling work is currently maintained with an average yield of 80 - 100 graves per day.
In the last 6 months of the year, the province strives to complete the sampling of martyrs' remains for DNA testing in October 2026.
To ensure progress, the province will increase the number of sample taking teams from 4 to 8 teams, striving to achieve a yield of 160 - 200 graves per day. At the same time, continue to focus forces, vehicles and equipment to accelerate the excavation progress in the Truong Chinh street area (Kon Tum ward) and areas with information about mass graves.
