Quang Ninh builds economic reconstruction project after storm No. 3

Quang Ninh - The project's goal is to reconstruct damaged works, assets, and facilities, and restore production activities of economic sectors.

Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee is currently directing relevant agencies to develop a Project to restore and rebuild the economy after storm No. 3. Accordingly, the Department of Planning and Investment is assigned to preside over and coordinate with relevant agencies to advise on the establishment of a Working Group, headed by the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

This project must be reported to the Provincial People's Committee before September 25, 2024.

The contents of the Project will include urgent immediate tasks as well as long-term plans. Policies to support people with damaged houses will be prioritized, along with mobilizing resources from public investment and social resources to rebuild infrastructure, climate change response projects, factories, enterprises, as well as create jobs and stabilize people's lives.

In addition, the province will study solutions to optimize and further develop key economic sectors such as tourism and coal mining. In particular, the tourism industry will focus on developing the fleet and improving the quality of tourist destinations, while the coal mining industry will focus on deep mining and processing technology.

Quang Ninh province will also take advantage of the opportunity to overcome weaknesses in economic development, apply science and technology to aquaculture, re-plan forests and crops, and attract investment in processing and semiconductor industries.

Previously, storm No. 3 made landfall in Quang Ninh and the northern provinces on September 7, causing serious damage. According to preliminary statistics as of September 18, Quang Ninh province estimated the damage at up to VND24,200 billion.
