On February 23 (the 7th day of the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year 2026), in the coastal area of Bao Ninh, Dong Hoi ward, Quang Tri province, the "Tet of planting trees, forever remembering Uncle Ho" Binh Ngo spring 2026 is organized at the provincial level.
Attending were Comrade Nguyen Van Phuong - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of Quang Tri Provincial Party Committee; comrades in the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee; leaders of departments, agencies and a large number of officials and people of Dong Hoi ward.
At the same time, Nam Dong Ha ward and communes, wards, and special zones in the province also simultaneously organized the launching ceremony and planting trees at the beginning of spring.
According to the Quang Tri Department of Agriculture and Environment, in 2025, the whole province planted 24,350ha of new forest and planted more than 4.9 million trees within the framework of the Government's 1 billion tree planting project. The movement "Tet tree planting forever remembers Uncle Ho" not only contributes to socio-economic development but also gradually reduces natural disasters, reduces greenhouse gas emissions, improves the environment and adapts to climate change.
The forest area planted during the annual "Tet tree planting" has made practical contributions to environmental protection and improved the quality of life of people, especially in coastal and upstream areas.
In 2026, Quang Tri set a target of planting 22,800ha of forest and strives to plant 3.5 million trees to create an environmental landscape in agencies, units, and residential areas, while promoting sustainable forestry economic development.
In Dong Hoi ward, where spring tree planting activities take place, previously tens of thousands of green trees were planted on streets, in the premises of agencies, units and coastal areas, upstream of Phu Vinh. Rows of trees planted over many years are gradually closing their canopies, creating shade and improving the urban landscape.
Mr. Dinh Thanh Quang - Deputy Director in charge of the Dong Hoi and Coastal Protection Forest Management Board of Quang Tri province said that trees planted through the "Tet tree planting" movement every year have grown well, many trees grow strongly and close their canopies.
According to Mr. Quang, this year's Tet tree planting, the unit coordinated with localities to organize tree planting thoughtfully, solemnly and effectively, right from the stage of selecting seedlings, determining planting locations to specific assignment of responsibilities for care, protection, and ensuring good plant growth after planting.
