On May 17, the Quang Tri Provincial Civil Defense Command coordinated with Plan International organization and Phan Dinh Phung High School to organize a launching ceremony to respond to the 2026 National Week for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control.
The program also celebrates the 80th anniversary of Vietnam's Traditional Day for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control (May 22, 1946 - May 22, 2026) with the theme "The community joins hands to prevent and combat natural disasters", associated with the content "The role of youth in adapting to climate change and mitigating disaster risks".
According to the plan, from May 15-22, many practical activities will take place in Quang Tri province, mobilizing the community to participate in disaster prevention and control.

Activities include communication and propaganda to improve knowledge and skills in disaster prevention, response and recovery for the community; exhibition of youth initiatives, connecting with the space "Youth actions for climate"; organizing 8 community training classes on disaster response (CADRE) and 14 communication sessions on climate change.
In addition, localities also organized launching campaigns to maintain, maintain, and clean the dyke system on dyke and embankment routes throughout the province.
At the launching ceremony, students had the opportunity to meet, talk, and exchange with management agencies about solutions, initiatives and commitments to action for community safety against natural disasters. The exchange content focused on the responsibility of the community in disaster prevention and control and adaptation to climate change.
The program also introduces many typical initiatives of students in the area such as: "Solar light traps harmful insects on rice plants - Green solutions for sustainable agriculture in Quang Tri"; "Carbon Life Sim website" of students of Vo Nguyen Giap High School for the Gifted; "Carbon Neutralization Journey 2030 - Dong Ha High School Net Zero Roadmap 2030"; initiative "BANAPAD - Biodegradable sanitary pad from banana pulp"; "Automatic Bio-Enzyme generated, mixed and watered Bio-Enzyme from fruit peel for organic waste treatment"...
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Le Van Bao - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Standing Deputy Head of the Quang Tri Provincial Civil Defense Command said that Quang Tri is a locality that is regularly heavily affected by storms, floods and extreme weather. Therefore, disaster prevention and control is of particular importance in protecting people's lives and sustainable development.
Mr. Le Van Bao hopes that each student will become a "small seed", spreading awareness of disaster prevention and control in families and communities. At the same time, teachers continue to focus on equipping students with life skills, disaster response skills and a sense of responsibility to the community.
