National Highway 1 through Quang Ngai under construction, people are upset about prolonged congestion

Quang Ngai - National Highway 1 through VSIP Industrial Park is half-constructed and then stopped, leaving the road uneven, causing serious congestion during rush hour.

About a month ago, construction units began to carry out maintenance and repair of the structure of National Highway 1 through Quang Ngai province. However, the process of passing through VSIP Industrial Park, Tho Phong commune did not take place continuously.

Recorded at the scene of the section passing through VSIP Industrial Park, the contractor put up reflective ropes occupying half the lane, put up signs and removed the old plastic layer. However, according to people's feedback and reporters' records, for more than a week, the construction unit has stopped repairing, without any workers or machines continuing to repair.

Mr. Nguyen Tan Cong (residing in The Long village, Tinh Phong commune) said that for nearly a month now, the nearly 1km long road section through VSIP Industrial Park has been under construction day and night. But after the asphalt was peeled, for unknown reasons, they stopped repairing it, leaving the road uneven and dusty, causing unsafety for road users.

During peak hours (from 6:20 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.), tens of thousands of workers from VSIP and Tinh Phong Industrial Parks flock to National Highway 1. However, the road under construction only has a small path left for trucks to circulate, causing vehicles to jostle, leading to prolonged congestion and a high risk of accidents.

"It is worth mentioning that in an area with such a high density of vehicles, the construction unit had to speed up the progress, prioritizing the return of the road surface to ensure safety and reduce congestion. In this case, they have stopped construction for more than a week, while the reflective lines are still spread out, occupying half the lane, making traffic even more stuffy, people are upset and worried" - a resident said indignantly.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hung (residing in Tinh Phong commune) shared: "It was sunny, the road surface had been peeled off for a whole week, but I could not see any signs of any workers continuing construction. Motorbikes, trucks, and container trucks jostle each other in a narrow lane, just a little mistake will cause the accident to happen immediately. There have been many collisions that caused workers to fall and injure themselves."

A representative of the Department of Construction of Quang Ngai province said that they will conduct field inspections at construction sites. If the contractor is found to be late and not ensuring traffic safety, the department will recommend that the management agency request the contractor to urgently restore the road surface and take appropriate traffic regulation measures.

National Highway 1 through Quang Ngai is more than 129km long, starting from Km1027 (Binh Son commune) and ending at Km1125 (Sa Huynh ward). This is a vital traffic axis connecting North - South, with high traffic volume, so construction delays and unfinished road surfaces are a common concern for thousands of local people and traffic participants.
