At the beginning of 2026, on National Highway 19, the section passing through Gia Lai province, many potholes and craters appeared again, forcing functional units to organize repairs and overcome.
Notably, this road has just been completed and put into operation not long ago, causing public concern about the construction quality of the project.
According to records, in some sections of National Highway 19 through the center of Mang Yang and Dak Doa communes, the road surface is peeling, locally subsided, forming deep pits that pose a risk of traffic unsafety, especially for motorbikes and heavy trucks.
After each rain, damage tends to spread, causing difficulties for traffic participants and increasing the risk of accidents.

Faced with this situation, the road management unit and the construction unit have temporarily repaired, scraped off the damaged road surface, supplemented materials and compacted to ensure traffic flow.
Mr. Nguyen Mai (resident of Mang Yang commune) angrily said: "The road has just been invested in upgrading with a large total capital, expected to meet transportation needs, connecting Gia Lai with the central coastal provinces and the Central Highlands. However, the rapid degradation of the road surface makes people worried that the project is not guaranteed or the construction and supervision process still has inadequacies.

For many years, National Highway 19 has been a vital traffic route, playing an important role in socio-economic development, especially in transporting goods and agricultural products of the Central Highlands region.
Therefore, the continuous occurrence of damage to the road not only affects traffic safety but also reduces investment efficiency.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Nam - Head of Project Management Board 2 (Ministry of Construction) - said that because it was previously the rainy season, the construction unit had to temporarily patch and repair. Currently, the weather is sunny and dry, construction teams have been strengthened to repair and complete the road surface by raking, separating layers and asphalting the road surface according to technical procedures, in order to ensure smooth road surface.
Project Management Board 2 directs contractors in the process of repairing and fixing damage to use appropriate technology, machinery and equipment; have quality rollers and asphalt paving to avoid damage that is repaired and patched many times.
It is known that not only the section passing through Mang Yang and Dak Doa communes must be repaired, but in the An Khe pass area, the road surface is also damaged. Currently, Project Management Unit 2 has requested construction units to urgently repair and asphalt the road surface at An Khe pass to avoid landslides, damage and ensure traffic safety.
Project Management Board 2 (Ministry of Construction), as the project investor, must be responsible and have fundamental and long-term repair plans and solutions, avoiding the situation of "patching this place, damaging another place".
Ensuring the quality of National Highway 19 is not only a technical requirement, but also a key factor to protect the rights and safety of traffic participants.
The project to renovate and upgrade National Highway 19 is nearly 230km long, designed with a speed of 80km/h, with a total investment of more than 3,600 billion VND (equivalent to 155.8 million USD). The project started in August 2021 and has now been completed and put into use items in early 2025.
