The Ha Long – Ba Che section (about 30km long) is part of Highway 342, more than 60km long, running from Ha Long through Ba Che district and ending in Dinh Lap district, Lang Son province.
The Ha Long – Ba Che section will not follow the old road which is very small and has many narrow and sharp curves, but will open a completely new route but will go through many areas with difficult terrain, because it has to go through forests, hills and abysses. However, after completion, this route is also expected to be a beautiful architectural work, with beautiful views along both sides of the road.
The starting point of this road section connects to the end point of the road project from the Ha Long - Van Don expressway overpass intersection (Trai Me village, Son Duong commune, Ha Long city) to Dong Tra village, Dong Lam commune, Ha Long city, invested by the Long City People's Committee and completed; the end point connects to the project to renovate and upgrade provincial road 342 through Ba Che district, which has also been put into use (this section connects Ba Che district with Dinh Lap district, Lang Son province).
Investment scale, technical standards: Grade III-IV mountainous road, two lanes.
Initially, the total investment capital of the project was expected to be over 3,600 billion VND, now reduced to over 2,000 billion VND.
According to a representative of the Project Management Board for Investment in Construction of Agricultural Works and Rural Development of Quang Ninh Province - the unit assigned as the project investor - the project is expected to start construction in the second quarter of 2025.
Currently, relevant units are actively preparing to start construction as planned. In particular, Ha Long City has issued a plan for land acquisition, investigation, survey, measurement and inventory to implement compensation, support and resettlement for households and units with land and assets subject to site clearance for this road section.
After completion, expected in 2027, Quang Ninh will have another beautiful, modern route, not only connecting localities in the province, but also connecting quickly and conveniently with Lang Son province.
