As Lao Dong Newspaper has reported, for many months now, the landslide situation on the left bank of the Red River through Chau Ninh commune, Hung Yen province has caused people in Nam Mau, Phuong Tru, and Kien Chau villages to worry as cultivated land is shrinking day by day.
According to people, the area at the end of the riverbank used for cultivation has been seriously eroded, with many points showing soil subsidence and cracks, with the risk of continuing to subside into the river. The entire area of crops along the riverbank is heavily affected, while each household only has about 1.5 sao of production land.
There is little land, but now it is gradually eroding into the river. People have repeatedly petitioned the commune because they are worried about losing all production land" - Ms. N.T. T, a resident of Nam Mau village, shared.
Not only sending complaints, many people also gathered themselves to gong and ring bells to drive away sand dredgers operating close to the riverbank. According to complaints, these boats still operate day and night.
