Residential waste is stagnant, affecting people's lives

According to the reporter's actual records, on Vo Nguyen Giap Street, Phuoc Tan Ward, there were many large trash bags with a lot of weight, but no one collected them, and the trash spilled onto the street.
Mr. Nguyen Quoc Vuong - Vice Chairman of Phuoc Tan Ward People's Committee - said: In Phuoc Tan Ward, there are 2 units collecting domestic solid waste, the volume of Phuoc Tan Ward collecting each day is about 70 tons/day and night. However, Quang Trung Waste Treatment Area only signed a solid waste treatment contract for the ward for 30 tons/day and night.
In addition, the amount of waste remaining before July 1, 2025 is about 430 tons that have been covered with tarpaulins and sealed. This has led to serious congestion at the garbage collection point and no more storage space. Although it has been excavated and collected to increase the storage height, the waste still overflows onto the specialized road, causing loss of urban aesthetics and affecting the environment in the area.
According to the People's Committee of Phuoc Tan Ward, the total volume of domestic solid waste in the ward as of September 15, 2025 is about 4,300 tons.
Faced with the above situation, the People's Committee of Phuoc Tan Ward has proposed the Provincial People's Committee and the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Dong Nai Province to consider and direct the Quang Trung Waste Treatment Area to increase the volume of domestic solid waste treatment in Phuoc Tan Ward from 30 tons/day to 70 tons/day to completely resolve the volume of daily waste.
Dong Nai province generates about 2,677 tons of domestic solid waste every day
According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Dong Nai province, currently in the province, domestic solid waste generates about 2,677 tons/day and is collected, transported, and brought to 5 receiving and processing units including: Sonadezi Service Joint Stock Company - Quang Trung Processing Area (Gia Kiem commune) with a capacity of 1,200 tons/day received by 37 wards and communes, at times exceeding the capacity to temporarily store; Vinh Tan Processing Area (Tan An commune) with a capacity of 450 tons/day received by 7 wards and communes; Tuc Trung Processing Area (La Nga commune) received 6 communes with a volume of about 83 tons/day; Xuan Tam Processing Area (Xuan Hoa commune) with a capacity of 120 tons/day received by 1 commune and 1 unit in Binh Phuoc commune received 100 tons/day of rice.
In Dong Nai province, there are 3 processing zones that ensure the capacity to receive about 513 tons/day and handle to ensure compliance with standards, including: Bau Can processing zone (receiving 450 tons/day), Tay Hoa processing zone (receiving 48 tons/day), Xuan Tam processing zone (receiving about 15 tons/day).
Therefore, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Dong Nai province agreed with the proposal of Sonadezi Service Joint Stock Company on not accepting domestic solid waste from localities including Dai Phuoc, Nhon Trach, Phuoc An, Phuoc Thai, Long Phuoc, Binh An, Long Thanh, An Phuoc, Hung Thinh to reduce pressure due to overload capacity; Propose the Provincial People's Committee to approve the People's Committees of communes and wards to proactively work with transport and treatment units to choose to sign temporary contracts to ensure savings, economic efficiency and convenience in managing domestic solid waste in the locality. As for urgent treatment areas, there are plans to receive and treat domestic solid waste, and sign temporary contracts with localities in need.
