Ba Tieng canal used to be a black, garbage-filled water, giving off a foul smell and often causing flooding every time there was heavy rain.
However, after nearly 4 years of implementing a renovation project with a total investment of more than 880 billion VND, this area has completely changed its appearance. From polluted canals, this place has now become a clean and beautiful traffic route, contributing to raising the urban landscape and improving the quality of life for tens of thousands of people.

The Ba Tieng canal renovation project is over 2km long, passing through An Lac ward. The project has 2 parts: building a traffic road combined with the installation of a box culvert (from Vanh Dai Trong Street to Ho Hoc Lam Street) and building an open canal and a traffic road on both sides of the canal (from Ho Hoc Lam Street to Nuoc Len Canal).
Up to now, most of the project has been completed, traffic is easier, and people living on both sides of the canal have also begun to stabilize their business and activities in a cleaner and safer environment.
According to the record, the project not only helps improve traffic infrastructure but also solves the flooding problem that has lasted for many years in this area. Previously, every rainy season, people in An Lac ward always had to face the scene of slow water receding, the strong stench from the canals rising up. Now, that situation has improved significantly.

Not only serving travel needs, the new route also contributes to reducing the load on the main roads of An Lac ward.
The project also plays an important role in Ho Chi Minh City's urban beautification and flood prevention strategy. It is expected that in the coming time, the remaining open canals will continue to be renovated, with additional trees and lighting, creating a green and synchronous space.

The Ba Tieng canal project is part of a series of large-scale canal renovation projects in Ho Chi Minh City. According to the goal by 2030, Ho Chi Minh City plans to basically complete the relocation and resettlement arrangement for all people living on and along rivers, canals and ditches. Thereby, the city will clear the flow, improve environmental sanitation, beautify the urban area and exploit land along rivers, canals and ditches for economic development.
