On the evening of July 2nd, the central sky of Ho Chi Minh City shone brightly in the artistic fireworks display to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Saigon - Gia Dinh city officially named after President Ho Chi Minh (July 2, 1976 – July 2, 2026). Thousands of people and tourists flocked to central areas such as Nguyen Hue pedestrian street, Bach Dang wharf, Saigon river area... to admire this special moment together.

At exactly 9 pm, the first clusters of fireworks soared into the sky, illuminating a section of the Saigon River. The fireworks display was arranged along the riverbank and the Marina building area, bringing a mãn nhãn performance with a harmonious combination of high-altitude and low-altitude fireworks.
Many people said that this is one of the memorable moments, showing the development and vitality of Ho Chi Minh City over the past half century.


Present early in the Bach Dang wharf area, Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Anh (28 years old, residing in Binh Thanh ward) shared that this is a rare time her family went to the city center together to watch fireworks. "I feel very touched. Not only beautiful in images but also carrying special commemorative meaning of the city. My whole family has been waiting since afternoon to be able to see both 3D mapping and fireworks in full," Ms. Minh Anh said.
Sharing the same emotion, Mr. Tran Quoc Huy (32 years old, residing in Phu Nhuan ward) said that although he is used to the atmosphere of the city center, each major holiday still brings very different emotions. "HCMC is always bustling, but today is more special. Although it is raining lightly, everyone is still very excited, everyone wants to witness this moment with their own eyes," Mr. Huy shared.


At many locations such as Nguyen Hue pedestrian street, Saigon riverside park area, the number of people watching fireworks is increasing. Functional forces are deployed at intersections, diverting traffic, ensuring security and safety for people throughout the event.
The 15-minute fireworks display closed a complete big festival for the people of Ho Chi Minh City. The brilliant lights in the night sky not only embellished the appearance of a dynamic megacity but also ignited the belief and aspiration to reach far of millions of people who are living, working and attached to the City named after Uncle Ho.
