Previously, on the morning of March 6, a barge with registration number NB-8437 collided with Ghenh railway bridge (large Dong Nai bridge) at km 1. 699+860 on the Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City railway line.
According to a report from Vietnam Railways Corporation sent to the Ministry of Construction, the collision occurred at 10:17 am, when the barge crashed into span No. 2, compartment 5 of the bridge, causing damage to many important structures.
The collision deformed and deformed the lower railing - the load-bearing structural part under the bridge deck, breaking high-strength bolts and bridge bearing bolts, causing the girder system (vertical girder, horizontal girder, bracing...) to shift.
The bridge pillow was moved about 25 mm, while the railway track on the bridge was deviated about 320 mm. The accident also injured a motorcyclist on the bridge.

Due to the impact of the incident, train operations through the Di An - Bien Hoa section were interrupted. During the recovery period, the railway industry still maintained train operations but had to organize passenger transfers.
Specifically, train passengers will be transferred by car from Di An station to Bien Hoa station and vice versa, with a distance of about 9 km, then continue their journey by train.
For freight trains, the railway industry organizes train operations from Yen Vien and Giap Bat stations to Trang Bom and Ho Nai stations to unload goods, instead of passing through the Ghenh bridge area as usual.
The Ministry of Construction has directed Vietnam Railways Corporation to urgently implement emergency repair measures to ensure the safety of the project and soon restore train operations across Ghenh bridge as soon as possible.
