On July 24, Dong Hoi Airport (Quang Tri) said that the Civil Aviation Authority had decided to put into operation the project to expand the aircraft parking lot at Dong Hoi Airport from 6:00 a.m. on September 5.
The project, once completed, will increase the total number of aircraft parking locations from 4 to 8. The operation of the expanded bean sprout yard aims to better meet the increasing demand for exploitation in the North Central region.
Previously, as reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, Vietnam Airports Corporation - JSC (ACV) also started construction of Terminal T2 - the main item of the T2 Passenger Terminal Construction Project and expanded the aircraft parking lot - Dong Hoi Airport, with a total investment of more than 1,750 billion VND. Passenger Terminal T2 is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2026.
Terminal T2 is built on an area of over 106,000m2, of which the terminal section is nearly 12,000m2 with 2 upper floors and a central ceiling; the car parking lot area is over 74,000m2, with green trees and landscape items of about 6,500m2. The project has a designed capacity of 3 million domestic passengers/year, serving a maximum of 1,200 passengers/peak hour and is expected to expand to 5 million passengers/year after 2030.
According to ACV, Terminal T1 is currently overloaded with only designed for 500,000 passengers/year, but by the end of 2025, it is expected to welcome nearly 1 million passengers. The early operation of the expanded parking lot and terminal T2 is an important step to improve service quality and synchronize infrastructure according to the airport system development plan until 2050.
