On May 18, Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee said that it had just held a meeting with Lien Khuong International Airport, the Departments of Construction, Finance, Agriculture and Environment, and Duc Trong District People's Committee to discuss upgrading the runway, runway and taxiway of Lien Khuong airport.
The Provincial People's Committee has requested Lien Khuong International Airport to report to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam and Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) on the closure time of the airport, ensuring effective construction without greatly affecting tourism and the province's socio-economy.

Lien Khuong Airport needs to report to the Provincial People's Committee before May 30 to notify people and businesses about travel plans and business activities.
The upgrade project, invested by ACV, has a total estimated investment of about 1,045 billion VND, to improve exploitation capacity and ensure flight safety.
Mr. Nguyen Van Gia, Director of the Department of Construction of Lam Dong province, said that the province proposed that ACV find an optimal construction plan to shorten the time from 8 to 6 months.
The time of closing the airport has not been determined, there needs to be a consensus between the province and ACV. The province also requested ACV to study a temporary repair plan and consider investing in a second runway to limit disruption to airport operations.
Lien Khuong airport will become the first international airport in the Central Highlands region in June 2024, with a designed capacity of about 5 million passengers/year, contributing to promoting tourism and developing the local economy.
