According to Lao Dong, from the early morning of the 25th of Tet, many people with luggage poured into Tan Son Nhat airport to return home for Tet. Airport staff and airlines also increased their activities to serve passengers.
Ms. Luong Anh Nguyet's family (from Ha Nam province) shared that they were afraid of missing their flight, so they arrived 5 hours before the flight.
"Waiting for so long made my baby tired, but because of the peak of Tet, my family tried. The number of guests was beyond my expectation, luckily my family arrived early, completed all the procedures and are waiting to enter the security gate," Ms. Nguyet said hurriedly.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hai (from Quang Tri province) said that he was afraid of the crowded scene on the first day of the holiday so he booked a flight ticket for today but did not expect the number of passengers to be so large.
"I booked my ticket about a month ago. I also tried to avoid the first day off and flew today, but there were too many passengers. The roads around the airport were jammed for a long time, I almost missed my flight," Hai added.
Tan Son Nhat International Airport informed on January 24, 2025 that the flight schedule and the number of passengers passing through the airport increased significantly (expected 1,002 flights and more than 150,000 passengers departing/arriving). Of which, the number of passengers on the outbound side, including domestic and international, increased sharply, more than 96,000 passengers (domestic over 66,000 passengers, international outbound nearly 30,000 passengers).
In the opposite direction, arrivals at Tan Son Nhat airport reached more than 53,000, international and domestic passengers were equal, about more than 26,500.
According to Tan Son Nhat International Airport, more than 12,000 domestic passengers departed between 3-5am, 2 hours before flight time.
It is expected that this evening, right after the end of the year's last working day, the number of passengers flocking to Tan Son Nhat airport to go to local airports across the country will increase even more.
