According to Lao Dong, on the afternoon of January 22 (ie the 23rd of the Lunar New Year), Tan Son Nhat airport (HCMC) was crowded with people returning to their hometowns to celebrate Tet.
The check-in counters of airlines are always crowded, but there is no overload.
Mr. Tran Hung (residing in Thu Duc City) shared that he was afraid of the crowds near Tet so he took advantage of arranging his work to take Tet off early to return to his hometown.
"I had an afternoon flight so I arrived at 10am because I was afraid of traffic jams on the way there and a long check-in line at the airport. However, when I arrived, I saw a huge number of passengers. I waited for nearly 30 minutes and it was still not my turn to check in," said Mr. Hung.
According to a representative of Tan Son Nhat International Airport, today, the airport is expected to operate 982 flights arriving and departing with more than 141,000 passengers.
Of which, the domestic station has more than 86,000 passengers (nearly 25,000 arriving passengers and more than 61,000 departing passengers); the international station has more than 54,000 passengers (departing and arriving passengers are approximately more than 27,000 passengers).
Thus, the number of passengers arriving and departing from Tan Son Nhat airport on January 22 increased sharply compared to yesterday. In the coming days, the number of passengers is expected to continue to increase.
