On the first day of the new year, January 1, 2026, Tan Son Nhat International Airport recorded bustling operations. According to aggregated data from the Airport Operations Center, the total cargo volume of the entire port during the day is expected to reach 759 flights with 117,298 passengers.

Regarding the passenger structure, the domestic market still accounts for the majority with more than 64,000 arrivals and departures. At the same time, the international sector also recorded impressive growth with more than 53,000 passengers through border gates, showing a balanced bustling in both domestic and international flight segments.

Regarding travel volume in the direction, the number of passengers arriving in Ho Chi Minh City is slightly higher than the departure direction. The airport welcomes 59,230 arrivals (including 32,812 domestic passengers and 26,418 international passengers). In the opposite direction, the total number of passengers departing is 58,068 (including 31,320 domestic passengers and 26,748 international passengers).

An important highlight in this year's traffic picture is the efficient operation of Terminal T3. According to the separate flight plan, this new terminal has served 281 flights, accounting for about 37% of the total number of flights of the entire port on the first day of the year.

Regarding the number of passengers at Terminal T3, it welcomed 37,598 passengers, including 18,147 passengers going and 19,451 arrivals. The stable operation of Terminal T3 has played a key role in dispersing the number of passengers and reducing the localized congestion pressure commonly seen at old stations during previous holidays.

In general, thanks to the "fire sharing" from the new infrastructure and a reasonable flight allocation plan, the traffic situation at Tan Son Nhat airport on January 1, 2026 was smooth and safe, well meeting the travel needs of people at the beginning of the new year.
