On August 15, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, a representative of the Power Project Management Board 3 - Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) said: Preparations for the groundbreaking ceremony of the Tri An hydropower plant expansion project on August 19 are ready, the conditions for the groundbreaking ceremony are complete, the contractor consortium has gathered enough machinery and human resources to carry out the construction work.
According to EVN, exactly 40 years ago, the Tri An hydropower project started construction with financial and technological support from the Soviet Union. The project was officially inaugurated in 1991 with 4 generators, a total designed capacity of 400MW, and an average annual electricity output of more than 1.7 billion kWh.

After coming into operation, the Tri An hydropower project has contributed to providing energy for the socio-economic development of 16 southern provinces and cities, ensuring industrial and domestic water for millions of people, irrigation water for more than 20,000 hectares of rice fields and land in downstream areas. During the entire operation, the project has always ensured efficiency and safety.
To meet the increased consumer load demand and take advantage of the excess water released during the flood season every year, EVN has proposed investing in the Tri An Hydropower Plant Expansion Project and was approved by the Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee in 2020.
The project has a total investment of nearly 4,000 billion VND, a total installed capacity of 200 MW, including 2 units, each unit has a capacity of 100 MW, after being put into operation, it will contribute to increasing the ability to mobilize capacity for loads in the Southern region...
On December 29, 2024, Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) held a ceremony to launch the construction of Hieu Liem bridge under the Tri An Hydropower Plant expansion project.
Hieu Liem Bridge is an important item of the project, approved as a level II project with a length of 249.5 m and a width of 9 m. The bridge was built to serve the transportation of materials and equipment during the project construction process. After the project was completed, Hieu Liem Bridge was left to serve the travel needs of people in the area, helping to connect traffic and contributing to the socio-economic development of the area.
