On October 13, the Southern Expressway Management Board said it is urging contractors to speed up construction progress to temporarily exploit the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway, the section through Dong Nai, expected in November 2024.

Package A6 is divided into 5 small packages (including A6.1, A6.2, A6.3, A6.4 and A6.5). Of which, package A6.4, the section from the intersection of the road to Phuoc An port to the Thi Vai bridge - part of package A7, has reached about 75%. This package is being accelerated to be completed in November 2024, connecting with National Highway 51, helping to reduce the load on a section of the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway and National Highway 51.

Reducing traffic congestion on Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway and National Highway 51

Accordingly, vehicles traveling from Ho Chi Minh City to Ba Ria - Vung Tau will pass through Cat Lai ferry onto Dong Nai province's internal roads to reach the intersection of Phuoc An port and then onto Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway towards National Highway 51.

In addition, vehicles traveling on the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway, if they want to avoid the frequent traffic jam at the National Highway 51 intersection, should turn onto Road 319 and then onto the Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway, to return to the National Highway 51 intersection, near the border of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province.

The Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway is 58km long through Dong Nai, Ho Chi Minh City and Long An. The project has a total investment of 31,320 billion VND with 11 construction packages. Including section 1 in the West from package A1-A4, section 2 from package J1-J3 and section 3 in the East through Dong Nai province including packages A5-A7.

Construction on this line began in 2014 and was halted in 2019 due to policy changes. It was restarted in mid-2023 and is expected to complete the entire line in the third quarter of 2025. Some sections are expected to be completed in November 2024 and put into temporary operation.

When put into operation, the route will connect the Southeast region with the Southwest region. In particular, it will connect seamlessly with major expressways such as Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong, Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay and Bien Hoa - Vung Tau.

Recently, the Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC) has sent a document to the Vietnam Road Administration requesting approval of the traffic organization plan for the temporary operation phase of the Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway Construction Investment Project. Based on the progress of the bidding packages, VEC proposed that the Vietnam Road Administration approve the traffic organization plan for the temporary operation of the Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway with 2 sections from Km 0-000 - Km 3+420 (Trung Luong intersection - National Highway 1 intersection) and Km 50-530 - Km 57-581 (Phuoc An intersection - National Highway 51 intersection) from November 2024.
