On August 18, the representative of the Department of Home Affairs of Ninh Binh province said that Ninh Binh province is implementing the merger of Ninh Binh city and Hoa Lu district into a new administrative unit with the expected name of Hoa Lu city. The merger of Ninh Binh city and Hoa Lu district will be merged in its original state in terms of the number of officials, civil servants, public employees, and workers at agencies and organizations in the administrative units implementing the arrangement.
Within 5 years from the date the Resolution of the National Assembly Standing Committee on arrangements for each administrative unit takes effect, the number of officials, civil servants, public employees, and workers will be comply with the provisions of Clause 3, Article 11 of Resolution No. 35/2023/UBTVQH13 dated July 12, 2023 of the National Assembly Standing Committee and current legal regulations.
After completing the merger, Hoa Lu city will have a natural area of 150.24km2 (reaching 100.16% of the regulation) with a population of 238,209 people (reaching 158.81% of the regulation) and including includes 20 administrative units (including 15 wards and 5 communes).
Ninh Binh province currently has a natural area of 1,411.86km2 and a population of 1,126,443 people. After completing the arrangement of district and commune-level administrative units for the period 2023-2025, the natural area and population size will not change.
Ninh Binh province reduces 1 district-level administrative unit (from the current 8 districts and cities to 7 districts and cities), including 2 cities: Hoa Lu city and Tam Diep city. ; The 5 districts are Gia Vien district, Nho Quan district, Yen Mo district, Yen Khanh district and Kim Son district.
After completing the merger and arrangement of administrative units, the entire Ninh Binh province will have 125 administrative units at commune, ward and town levels (including 98 communes, 21 wards and 6 towns (reducing 21 communes, decreased by 1 town, increased by 4 wards).
