On March 11, Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh inspected the progress of the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 project.
According to Mr. Luong Minh Phuc - Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board, the two sections of Ring Road 3 nearly 21 km long through Ho Chi Minh City and Long An will open to traffic by the end of 2025 - 4 months earlier than the original plan.
Of which, nearly 14 km is located in Thu Duc City (HCMC) built on an elevated (overpass) and about 6.5 km passes through Long An province.
The elevated Ring Road 3 route through Thu Duc City connects from the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway and ends at the Tan Van intersection (Binh Duong).

In addition to these two sections, some items near the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway intersection will also be basically completed on the occasion of April 30 this year, to connect with the Nhon Trach bridge project leading to Dong Nai province.
According to the plan, by June 2025, vehicles can travel through this section, contributing to reducing traffic pressure on the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway.
The remaining part of Ring Road 3 with a total length of about 55 km will be technically open to traffic on April 30, 2026.

Despite the positive progress, Mr. Phuc said that the project is still facing many difficulties in terms of material sources, especially sand for embankment.
Therefore, the units recommended that the Government direct the provinces of Vinh Long, Tien Giang, and Ben Tre to speed up mining procedures and increase capacity to provide materials. Tien Giang province alone is proposed to support an additional 1.9 million m3 of sand this year to ensure construction progress.

Mr. Tran Hung Viet - Director of the Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board of Binh Duong province - said that the Ring Road 3 route passing through the province has four construction packages.
4 packages include: Package 1 (Tan Van intersection) has been completed 12.03%; Package 2 (Binh Chuan intersection) has reached 37.11%; Package 3 (from Binh Chuan to Saigon River) has reached 25.03%; Package 4 (building Binh Goi Bridge) has reached 64.68%.
The project's construction progress is about 4.6% behind schedule due to problems in site clearance and a shortage of sand for embankment.

Binh Duong province plans to complete about 3 km of packages 2 and 4 in 2025.
In addition, the units will focus on completing the section from My Phuoc - Tan Van to National Highway 13 and the overpass at Tan Van intersection in December 2025. The goal is to open the entire Ring Road 3 route through Binh Duong province by June 2026.

Speaking at the inspection, Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh emphasized that Ring Road 3 is not only an important transportation project but also contributes to expanding urban space, connecting regions, and promoting economic development.
According to the national target, this year the whole country is expected to have 3,000 km of expressway put into operation. Therefore, accelerating the progress of Ring Road 3 will contribute significantly to the overall plan.
Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh highly appreciated the efforts of localities in implementing the project; requested to continue focusing resources to ensure progress.
Regarding difficulties in material sources and site clearance, the Government will work with localities to find solutions in the coming time.
