The Standing Office of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense of Gia Lai province said that the authorities have urgently evacuated 4 households with 11 people from the landslide area in Bong Son ward.
Previously, at around 10:30 a.m. on November 2, prolonged heavy rain caused a landslide in Lai Khanh Tay quarter (Bong Son ward), collapsing the wall of Ms. Nguyen Thi Luyen's house (born in 1978).
After receiving the news, the authorities promptly arrived and organized the evacuation of households to safe places. Local authorities have arranged forces to be on duty 24/7 to monitor developments and prevent people from returning to landslide areas when safety has not been ensured.
Currently, Bong Son ward is coordinating with specialized units to survey and assess the level of landslides to develop a long-term solution.
In recent days, Gia Lai province has experienced prolonged heavy rain, causing landslides in many areas. In the western part of the province, the authorities have evacuated 6 households with 25 people from the landslide area on the 500kV station operation route ( IaLy commune).
The eastern area of the province currently has 4 high-risk landslides including: Ganh mountain (De Gi commune, 66 households/300 people), Cam mountain (Cat Tien commune, 64 households/232 people), Tra Cong (An Hoa commune, 77 households/257 people) and village 3 (Vinh Son commune, 40 households/132 people). In the face of the complicated developments of storm Kalmaegi (storm No. 13), Gia Lai province has planned to evacuate people in 58 communes and wards in the eastern area from 7:00 a.m. on November 5 - the time when the storm is expected to enter the East Sea.
